Reporting glossary — what each figure means

Plain-English definitions of the figures on your dashboard and reports — revenue, gross sales, discounts, tickets sold, comps, fees and account balance.

Your dashboard and reports use a small set of figures, and several of them look similar without meaning the same thing. This page defines each one in plain English.

Every figure below also carries an ⓘ next to it wherever it appears in the dashboard. Tapping or hovering that icon shows the same definition you'll read here — they come from the same place, so they can't tell you two different things.

The figures

Revenue

The money you actually collected from ticket sales, before tax and Revelree fees. Discounts reduce it, because a discounted ticket brings in less.

Total Revenue

The value of every ticket and pass admission assigned to seats for this show, before tax and fees.

Total Admissions

Every counted seat: tickets sold, pass admissions and comps.

Gross Sales

What your tickets were listed at, before any discount was applied.

Discount

The difference between list price and what customers actually paid.

Tickets Sold

Tickets that were paid for. Excludes complimentary tickets, Will Call tickets, and refunded tickets.

Comps

Complimentary tickets. No money changed hands, so they don’t count as sales or revenue.

Fees

Revelree’s platform fee, taken at the time of sale.

Total Paid

The full amount charged to the customer: revenue plus fees plus tax.

Account Balance

Money you’ve earned that hasn’t been paid out yet, minus refunds and anything already requested. Includes the tax you collected on ticket sales, but not the tax on Revelree’s fee — Revelree collects and remits that.

Total Refunded

The money you handed back during this period — counted by refund, and dated by when the refund was processed, not when the original ticket was sold. A refund in March of a ticket bought in January is a March refund. One refund can cover several tickets, so this is not a ticket count.

Refund Rate

Of the tickets sold during this period, the share that has since been refunded. Both halves count TICKETS and are dated by when the ticket was SOLD — so this is a different figure from Total Refunded beside it, which counts refunds on the date the money went back. The two will not match, and neither is part of the other.

Two that are easy to confuse

Revenue and Gross Sales are not the same number, and the gap between them is your discounting. Gross Sales is what the tickets were listed at; Revenue is what actually came in. If you never discount, the two match.

Total Paid is larger than Revenue on purpose. It's what the customer's card was charged — revenue plus the fees and tax collected on top.
